The principle of photometric detection in water analysis is that, following the addition of a reagent system, the absorption or transmission of monochromatic light (light of one wavelength) is used to measure the concentration of a specific substance in the water.
Product Specifications
Each microprocessor-controlled PCcompact photometer is programmed for one detection method and supplies accurate and reproducible results very quickly. The other advantages of the equipment are ease of operation, ergonomic design, compact dimensions and safe handling.
Light emitting diodes (LEDs) are used as a light source; these LEDs have long-term stability giving monochromatic light emission with minimum power input.
The sample chamber (the most critical part of any photometer) is fully sealed, so no water can access the electronic components. Cleaning is simple.
The size of the sample chamber ensures easy cleaning of the light ports.
The PCcompact may be used as test equipment with internal software-based calibration facilities. Battery operation makes the units suitable for both field use and laboratory applications.
The analyses are performed either using long-term stable AQUALYTIC tablet reagents with a guaranteed minimum shelf life or on the basis of AQUALYTIC vial tests.
The complete unit
The PCcompact is supplied as a fully functional unit complete with accessories and reagents in a handy case. For determination of chemical oxygen demand (COD) you can order either the basic photometer with adaptor for 16 mm vials or the unit with vial tests and thermo-reactor.
Indicator System
A photometer is only ever as good as its indicator system. This is why AQUALYTIC tablet reagents with a 5-year shelf life guarantee are generally used for standard analyses. Each tablet is individually sealed in aluminium foil and is therefore not exposed to the ambient influences. It remains ãfreshä right up to the time it is removed from the foil. The possibility of ageing effects on the indicator is therefore almost ruled out.
Handling of reagent tablets
One of the advantages of the easy handling and exact reagent metering of the tablets is the accuracy of analysis. This is particularly important when working in the unfavourable conditions typically experienced in field analysis. Safety data sheets are available for users.
